This is the first installment of pictures I had shot in concerts (mostly) in Bangalore, from 2010 to 2016. As you notice from the images, I am mostly interested in rock, jazz, and fusion music. Some of the people in these pictures are living legends in the Indian and international music circles, and I am fortunate enough to have hung out with them and had some truly incredible conversations. Most importantly, I have been able to capture the spirit of the concerts in these images. More of these in the next few days as I continue curating my work.
I created all these on my phone, with words I either conjured up myself, and song titles or lyrics, which were in congruence with the state of my mind while I was at the lowest point of my life. Depression is a killer. I realized that my way of dealing with it was to put out all my thoughts in one form or another – art, music, photography, writing, and conversations. That way, thoughts stopped being amorphous and shape-shifting in my head; they now had concrete shapes in the physical world.
This is an old composition. I wasn’t too happy with the previous recording. So I added several more parts, arranged it better, and recorded it again a few days ago. Yes! You can dance to this one!
